Dr. Laureen Headshots
Nearly two decades ago, I became what I define as an Employepreneur (an employee from 8 to 5 and nights and weekends an entrepreneur). I started my own company, Dr. Laureen International, while working for my employer at that time.
Ten years later, I personally saved my employer nearly a million dollars – due to my negotiating skills in the training and development arena.
Later that year, I received a performance review and was told that I did an exceptional job and I would receive a 3% pay increase. I was devastated and appalled that my employer felt I was only worth 3% (especially since none of my predecessors had ever saved the company that amount of money through negotiations).
I made a ‘radical decision’ that by the end of the next year; I would walk away from corporate America and manage my own company full-time versus nights and weekends.
In mid next year, I was diagnosed with a severe case of rheumatoid arthritis. I was told that within the next five-to-ten years I would be wheelchair bound with limited use of my hands and neck. Despite the health challenges, I still left corporate America as planned to run my company on a full-time basis.
My doctor placed me on a form of chemo for the next five years (it was the only medication that seem to really make an impact on the rheumatoid arthritis). After a few years, my health took another turn for the worst. I ended up on a form of chemo again, was put on a medically prescribed steroid (gained 55 pounds as a result of this steroid); ended up with a compromised lung (due to the chemo), and was diagnosed with chemically induced asthma (result of the prescribed medications).
It was at that point that I made another ‘radical decision’ to Re-Think. Re-Invent. Re-Emerge.™ in every area of my life. I hired a personal trainer, lost the 55 pounds, rebranded myself, wrote an Amazon bestseller, reinvented my business model, changed my lifestyle, and re-defined my definition of success.
During this time of reinvention, I was blessed to vacation in so many awesome places: Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, Alaska, Bermuda, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Tasmania and Beijing, China. I was determined to enjoy my life and continue to succeed in every area of my life. I bought myself a miniature baby grand, and by the way, it’s 2015 – my health is so so much better, my business is thriving, and I am learning how to play the piano!

What is the best way to set up the room?
- A platform is preferred if you have more than 100 people. This will give the audience a clear, unobstructed view of Dr. Laureen during her presentation.
- Dr. Laureen will not be speaking from a lectern. If the AV requires the computer on stage, a small table works. If it is necessary to have a lectern on the stage or platform in order to facilitate the needs of the previous or following speaker, please have it moved to the back of the platform for Dr. Laureen’s presentation.

- You will provide an LCD Projector with the capacity to play audio and video and large screen or screens.
- Dr. Laureen will bring her own MacBook Pro. She will use it for her PowerPoint presentation along with sound. She will also bring the VGA adapter and slide advancer. Dr. Laureen sometimes use music in here presentation.

How long are your programs?
My programs can be structured to meet your needs – from 30 minutes to a full day. I can also provide multiple programs over several days.
How do you tailor your programs?
As soon as you decide that I’m the right speaker for your event, I start doing my homework/research (e.g. trade journals, newsletters, your website, annual reports, etc.). I study your website and ask you for information about your company or organization. Additionally, I also ask some specific questions designed to help me understand your audience.
I create the program to reflect the key points that you want addressed, then integrate the information that I’ve collected in my research, and add appropriate stories, illustrations, and humor from my background and experience. The outcome is a unique result-oriented program that is just right for your group.
One of the best compliments I get from clients and audience members is, “You really understood us; it was as if you worked right alongside of us every day.”
Are you funny?
Most of my audiences seem to think I have so humor. I don’t consider myself a humorist, but humor and fun are part of my message and my presentations. When people are enjoying the process, they tend to learn better.
How could we use you for our organization?
At meetings, special events and conventions. I am often used as the speaker for a luncheon, a breakout session or the keynote for the main event.
In a corporate setting, I provide training for managers and staff and I can speak at management retreats, employee recognition events, awards banquets, or only special company events.
Does it matter how many people are in the audience?
No. I work with and speak to groups of all sizes.
